Who Is the Smartest Being You Know?

1 Corinthians 1:25

For the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength.

Today we begin to study 1 Corinthians 1:25 – one of my many favorite passages.  Today we will look at the first portion of this verse: for the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom.

Who is the smartest – wisest – person you know?  Albert Einstein was considered pretty smart in his day.  I did a Google search and one of the pages that came up mentioned the following as the smartest people in the world – Noam Chomsky: a linguist and political activist – Stephen Hawking: a Theoretical physicist – Grigory Perelman: a Mathematician – Terence Tao: a Mathematician – and Edward Witten: a Mathematical Physicist.  On NCIS Abby Sciuto is pretty smart as well as Tim McGee.  Charlie Eppes on Numb3rs is also a pretty smart fellow. But according to the Scripture this morning – God is just fooling around when compared to the smartest – wisest – that the world has to offer.

It is because of this and other passages that human wisdom is so secondary to God’s Word for me! Colossians 2:8 say: See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ. As smart as we think science and the human mind can be – it is still foolishness compared to God.  For this reason – God is the smartest being I know – bar none – hands down!

Just something to think about today as you go on your way.

Tomorrow we will continue to look at 1 Corinthians 1:25 by looking at the second part of the verse: and the weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength.
