Work As Unto The Lord
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men,
One of the sweet memories I have of our daughters growing up is seeing them dance and sing to a video series – Colby’s Clubhouse. They couldn’t wait to get up in the morning and turn it on – the twins were just toddlers. One song I’ve searched for (but so far to no avail) was a song based on today’s Scripture.
Jaclyn found one episode that talked about this Scripture – Shred for Christ – talking about peer pressure – but it didn’t have the song I was seeking. Our girls would run around the house singing whatever you do, do it as unto the Lord! This is a truth they learned as toddlers – a lesson each of us needs to learn and re-learn often.
The Scripture says – whatever circumstance you find yourself – husband or wife – child or parent – working for someone – having people work for you – whatever your circumstance – do what you do as if working unto the Lord. If we work for a tough boss – we are still to work as unto the Lord. If we have a tough home life – and find it hard to listen to our parents – we are still told to work as unto the Lord.
In church life – whatever we do – be it staff or volunteer – we should accomplish the task before us as if unto the Lord. We should all feel a sense of duty unto our Lord as we serve on the Praise Team – on a lay leadership team – doing administrative work – setting up or cleaning the facility – working with the youth – or with our children – everywhere!
We need to think about where God has placed us – and ask ourselves the question – are we serving as unto the Lord? Are we giving it the same effort we would if we had the mindset that we were serving our Lord by our actions? Think about it!
Just something to think about today as you go on your way.
