The Resurrection Series

On Easter morning we began a four part series on The Resurrection.  The first sermon was shared at the Sunrise service and the second on Easter morning at the regular services.  Below are the sermon titles and the Scriptures we used or will use as the foundation for each message.

There are two messages left – Sunday – April 15th and Sunday – April 22nd.  We didn’t get the Sunrise sermon taped but you can listen to the second part of the series here and the other messages will be up on our sermon page – http://www.mtoak.org/media/mo-sermons.

On April 15th – this Sunday – we will dig into John 14:6 – Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”  We will ask some serious questions about whether we are on board – what we believe and trust – whether we are there yet – as we prepare to move forward.

On April 22nd we will dig into Hebrews 6:1-3 – 1 Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death and of faith in God, 2 instruction about cleansing rites, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. 3 And God permitting, we will do so.  We will address the idea of moving forward with deeper understandings of our Christian faith.

In a growing congregation – we will always need a time of preaching/teaching about salvation – because some have been in church all their life – some never before – and both may never have heard the Gospel preached – sad but true.  But – if we stay with the basics of faith – we are not reaching out to those who want to grow. So hang on – hold tight – as we begin to dig a little deeper after the series on The Resurrection.

Don’t miss this Sunday at Mt. Oak Fellowship of the United Methodist Church as we ask the question – Are We There Yet? reflecting on John 14:6. Souls have been added to the Kingdom over the last two weeks and we are preparing to move forward. Hope to see you there at 8:45 or 10:30 am.
