Our Father (Heavenly) Is Watching Over Us

Psalm 121:3

He will not let your foot slip — he who watches over you will not slumber;

RevRayIf you haven’t heard the news – I have two granddaughters (see the picture below).  They are both under one year old and I have actually watched one solo for several hours already (her parents must have been desperate for a night out!).  Before we go any further I want you to know everything went well!

Technology is so great these days – when I watched my one granddaughter solo – her parents had a camera that allowed me to watch my granddaughter in her crib when she slept (get this I fed her – changed her – and put her down for her evening sleep that evening!).  I could watch her with the camera and monitor without disturbing her – instead of peeking into the room every 45 seconds.  I wish we had those when our children were babies.

Justice&Vyrie2042313Parenting a little one can have its trying times (can I get an Amen!).  As we try to watch out for them and take care of them – we often lose sleep or even some peace of mind (friends of ours just had a baby this week and they are reporting on Facebook that sleep time has left them already).  The Psalmist wrote that he who watches over you will not slumber.  God is watching us all the time – nothing happens in our lives that God is not aware of and in ultimate control over – God is Sovereign!  That clearly doesn’t mean God causes everything to happen – read the story of Job – but it does mean that nothing happens that God is not aware of and ready to handle!  God has promised to never leave us nor forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6).  He is always there – never asleep at the wheel!

It is comforting to know that he who watches over you will not slumber.  It made me feel good to know my father was always there when I was younger and now it is good to know that my heavenly Father has been and always will be there watching over me!  Peace of mind is a good thing.  Knowing that God is on duty brings me peace of mind.  Knowing that our Father (heavenly) is watching over us brings that peace of mind!

Just something to think about today as you go on your way.
