November Fast – Final Chapter

James 1:12

Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.

profileThis is coming out an hour late today because I had a turkey hangover (lol).  I slept in today and didn’t write this last night because it was family time and the Ravens were on (what an amazing game for sure).  So here you go.  Your Friday devotional thought (November Fast – Final Chapter).

The November fast is almost history – only a couple of days left.  Thanksgiving is in the rear-view mirror and the next holiday is Christmas.  Yet – even after four weeks of fasting – from snacks and candies during week one – from fast foods during week two – from negative people and situations during week three – and from secular music during week four – there are still a few days left in November.

I could fast from football this weekend – but that wouldn’t be much of a fast since my team played Thanksgiving and won – go Ravens – and Sunday is December 1st.  I could fast from leftovers – but that wouldn’t be very wise since there are leftovers galore and they will be wasted if someone doesn’t eat them.  So what I have decided is that for Friday and Saturday – starting right after I post this devotional thought – I will fast from social media.  No Facebook – after this post until Sunday.  No Twitter – until Sunday.  No Google+ – until December.  I will even include no non-work e-mail until Sunday.  A big fast for a couple of days.

Remember – whatever you have chosen as your fast – it isn’t just to stay away from something – but it is to also give you more time to spend with Jesus.  More time to read His Word.  More time to pray and focus on Him.  I hope you have experienced a joy that is above all understanding during November – a closer walk with Jesus – a deeper relationship.  I wonder what December will bring!

The scripture today tells us – Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.   Has the fast been a trial to you?  Has it been tough?  If not – maybe we didn’t fast from the right thing.  If so – and we persevered – something probably happened during your November fast and I would love to read about it.  Post some thoughts – concerning the fast here and let others read what God did for you as you persevered through the trail of the fast.

Just something to think about today as you go on your way.
