Awaken – Be Revived Today

Psalm 85:6

Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?

profileWe started revival on Sunday – March 2nd.  The first revival we have had at FUMCL for some time I’m told.  The revival began with our morning services – a traditional service at 8:15a and a contemporary service at 11a.  The audio for the morning sermons can be heard here (titled “Don’t Give Satan a Foothold”).

Last night at the first evening service at 7p we continued with the revival.  We had a great turnout for the evening service at you can heard the audio for the evening message here (titles “Resisting Satan”).  A number of people received Jesus as their Lord and Savior last night and many recommitted their lives to Christ as well.  So far it has been a sweet Spirit filled series.

We might get snowed out tonight as our area is being pelted by yet another storm.  If we are snowed out – I’m thinking of doing a testimony night online – with live streaming.  Stay tuned for more information.  If snowed out tonight we will continue the revival with our Pancake Supper Tuesday night at 5:30p followed by revival at 7p.  The revival will conclude on Wednesday with our Ash Wednesday service.

As I was doing my morning devotions I came across today’s passage.  Psalms 85:6 – Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?  Many in our church have faith but we all need to be revived from time to time – can I get an Amen!?  God has promised to revive us if we seek His face and desire His grace.  If we wish to be revived God will revive us!

If time allows – listen to the two sermons referenced above and visit with us at FUMCL for the remainder of the revival.  Here’s a passage that speaks to me this morning about awakening – reviving – the faith within us.  Revelation 3:1-6 – 1 “And to the angel of the church in Sardis write: ‘The words of him who has the seven spirits of God and the seven stars. “‘I know your works. You have the reputation of being alive, but you are dead.  2 Wake up, and strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have not found your works complete in the sight of my God.  3  Remember, then, what you received and heard. Keep it, and repent. If you will not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come against you.  4 Yet you have still a few names in Sardis, people who have not soiled their garments, and they will walk with me in white, for they are worthy.  5  The one who conquers will be clothed thus in white garments, and I will never blot his name out of the book of life. I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels.  He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’

Be revived.  Awaken your faith today.  Actively live out your faith.  Live fully for Jesus.  Be revived!

Just something to think about today as you go on your way.

P.S. – We’re having a revival at First United Methodist Church of Laurel on March 2-5.  Morning services on March 2 are at 8:15 and 11:00 am.  Evening services on Sunday through Wednesday are at 7:00 pm.  The church is located at 424 Main Street – Laurel – MD – 20707.  I hope to see some of our readers at the revival!
