How’s Your Prayer Life?

Psalm 27:4

One thing I ask from the Lord…

profileHow’s your prayer life? Do you do the normal now I lay me down to sleep and thank you for this food along with some short prayers at church? Does that sum up your prayer life? I sure hope not.

How’s your prayer life? Have you ever invested time into your prayer life? Do you journal your prayer life? Are you on a first-name basis with God in your prayer life? Do you believe God hears your prayers? How do you pray? What is your practice?

I know – a lot of questions – how about some answers! Prayer is an essential part of our walk with Jesus. Building a deep prayer life is essential to building a deep relationship with Jesus.

On Tuesday – May 13th – we will begin a prayer meeting in the Sanctuary at 6:15 pm. This will be a time to gather and pray. For some – it might be a time to develop a prayer life. For some – it might be a time to connect with others in prayer. For some – a time to humble themselves before Jesus.  What would it be for you?

We will pray for the pastor – for our church leaders – for those on our prayer circle – for other needs that we face each day – for local and even international tragedies – and more.  I pray we will be open to the Holy Spirit and allow God to direct our prayers!

There will be no set agenda to our meetings but for those who need some structure I would imagine we would spend 10-15 minutes discussing our prayer concerns and a good 30 minutes praying together. Some will feel led to pray out-loud. Some will pray in silence. If our numbers dictate it – we may even break into small groups and pray together. This should turn out to be an AWESOME time with Jesus and with sisters and brothers in the faith.

We will end before the Disciple Bible studies and before the Men’s Bible study at 7 pm. Some who are not in those studies may feel compelled to continue to pray. Please put this exciting time of prayer into your calendar and join us. I will facilitate this time together.  All are welcome – invite your friends.

As we begin our time of prayer – I will read the follow verse – Psalm 27:4 – One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.

Let us come together to seek after the Lord together. Let us seek His face and desire His grace.  How’s your prayer life?  Come join us on Tuesday nights.

Just something to think about today as you go on your way.
