Where Are You?

20140530-104833-38913743.jpgI have some questions for us to ponder today. I would love for some answers to be shared – but if the answers are inward – that’s OK too.

Where are you in your spiritual journey? Take a moment and reflect on this question and the questions to follow.  Where are you strong and where are your growing edges in your spiritual journey where you need God, you need faith, you need to try something new or additional?

Maybe your growing edge or limit is reading the Bible regularly? Digging into God’s Word is what we are called to do but maybe you have a hard time doing this on a regular basis. Is this your growing edge? Maybe a reading plan on www.youversion.com might help.  Maybe an accountability group where you read the Bible together and talk about it as well.

Maybe your growing edge or limit is your prayer life? Praying is more than saying grace – have you thought about your communication with God lately? How are you doing?  Would written prayers help you?  Would having someone to pray with help?  We meet once a week at our church on Tuesday nights from 6:15-7 pm for corporate prayer.  Come join us.

Maybe your growing edge or limit is walking in the Spirit? Are we learning – more and more – each day – to lean on the Holy Spirit in our lives?  Have you read any good books lately on the work of the Holy Spirit?  Have you read the Bible lately – the sections on the Holy Spirit’s work?

Maybe your growing edge or limit is attending worship on a regular basis. We’re called in the Scriptures to meet regularly – maybe a small group would help?  I’ve told many a person over the years that one Sunday a month is better than no Sundays a month – so get started now – even if only one Sunday a month.  Surrounding yourself with other Christians can be powerful and helpful. It can become contagious.

Maybe your growing edge or limit is serving. Did you know we are required to serve others – to think of others first and to give of ourselves?  Your local church probably has many places to serve. At FUMCL we are trying to look outside our walls at the community around us for new ways to serve.

Maybe your growing edge is something else. Maybe trusting God with your money and tithing is your growing edge. Maybe it is witnessing to others, or holding your temper, or resisting temptations (oh there are so many).  Join with someone else and strive to be the best you can be for Jesus!

Identifying where we are strong and where we are weak is important. We need to build up where we are weak while continuing in our strengths. Our goal is to be all God wants us to be to serve Him with all that we are and with all that we have!

So where is it in your spiritual journey that you need God? Where is faith required for you?

Just something to think about today as you go on your way.
