21-Day Prayer/Fast – Day 21

Ezekiel 47:5

He measured off another thousand, but now it was a river that I could not cross, because the water had risen and was deep enough to swim in — a river that no one could cross.

01032015 RayI know some will call me old – but one of my favorite praise/worship songs is sung by Steven Curtis Chapman – titled Dive.  It came out in the 90’s I think – so it isn’t considered contemporary anymore by some – but I love it!  You can find it by clicking the word Dive or by going to this link.

As we finish our 21-Day Prayer/Fast today – I want to challenge us to dive in!  We might wonder – why are we being challenged to dive in now – why not on day one or even before the prayer/fast began?  I’m challenging us to dive in today because it is not about what we have done but what we will do that counts moving forward.  Of course I’m not talking about works righteousness – God’s grace covers our sins – but as witnesses to the world – how we live our lives says so much about the Jesus we proclaim.

21-Days-Fasting-Banner-710Life is a river no one can cross – successfully – without Jesus.  Oh we can live our life without Jesus – but in the end we will receive a just reward – Hell – without Christ’s grace.  If we know Jesus – I challenge us to live for Christ fully – to dive right in and serve Him – so that others will see what Jesus has done in our life and want what we have – a relationship with Jesus!

We aren’t diving in for our salvation – because we can do nothing to save ourselves – we can only receive Christ’s free gift.  But we can impact others as they see us walking out our faith – diving in and being swallowed up by the power of God in our lives.  This will impact them and may be part of why they turn to Jesus themselves!

Here is today’s devotional thought from day 21 of the YouVersion reading plan.  No matter how deep you are now, wade in deeper still. Don’t worry about what’s going to get wet. Don’t stop at the point where you can keep your feet underneath you. Get swept away. What are you holding on to? What are your hesitations to living a more Spirit-led life of faith? What illusion of control are you clinging to? Go all in. Pray today that this fast will be just the beginning of a deeper relationship with God. Pray that He will continue to beckon you to dive in and let Him take complete control of your life.

Dive in and trust Jesus my friends.  Let go and let God my friends from AA say.  Hold back nothing – but fully live for Jesus!

Just something to think about today as you go on your way.
