The Glory of God

Isaiah 6:3

…the whole earth is full of his glory.

IMG_0301One of my granddaughters is staying with us for a few days. Her parents were dropping her off – and I was on the kitchen floor playing with her. The sun was shinning in the glass back door and it was shinning in her face. She couldn’t focus – because the sun was in her eyes. Her father tried to stand in the doorway to shade her eyes. We were playing with some sand in a small sand box – I was making pies and other objects and she was crumbling them up and having a blast.

When my wife and I leave the window blinds open in our bedroom at night – the morning sun shines in and shines into our eyes. In the winter – we’re up way before the sun comes up but in the summer – often before we get up – the sun is up – shinning in our eyes. I love it – she doesn’t!

I was at a church recently – celebrating a wedding – and they had stain glass windows all around the church – some beautiful art for sure! When the sun shined through them – the sanctuary was bright with arrayed in all sorts of colors.

These are just a few of the images that come to mind when I think of today’s passage – the earth is full of His glory! Here is today’s passage in partial context. Isaiah 6:1–3 – 1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. 2 Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. 3 And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.”

The glory of God is an amazing concept. Moses could barely handle seeing God’s backside – his shadow. When the whole earth is full of God’s glory – that will be an amazing time. It will be wonderful to be in His presence for eternity – a much better place than being in darkness – the total absence of the glory of God.

Just something to think about today as you go on your way.
