Proclaim God’s Great Deeds

Psalm 145:6

They tell of the power of your awesome works—and I will proclaim your great deeds.

IMG_0301Yesterday was Mother’s Day and my Facebook feed was filled with photos and stories of people celebrating with their moms or with the memory of their moms. I spent the day with my mom.

Mothers are one of the building blocks of God’s design for the family. God’s design includes one man and one woman – a father and a mother when children are part of the family unit. We see so much deviation from God’s design creeping into our society today – even into some churches. When sinful humanity begins to redesign God’s plan – we will see the destruction that it will bring.

We see some of the destruction in many single parent homes – where one parent or the other is missing. A high percentage of criminals come from single parent homes – and I don’t think that is by accident. God’s design is perfect and when we mess with it – we cause issues.

Along with the pictures on my Facebook feed I read some amazing stories or short messages of the amazing feats our mothers have done. Some of the stories brought tears to my eyes – remembering when my mom did some of those things as well.

The Psalmist today reminds us of the great deeds of our God. Here is today’s passage in partial context. Psalm 145:1–14 – I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name forever and ever. 2 Every day I will praise you and extol your name forever and ever. Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom. 4 One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts. They speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty—and I will meditate on your wonderful works.  They tell of the power of your awesome works— and I will proclaim your great deeds. 7 They celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness. 8 The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. 9 The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made. 10 All your works praise you, Lord; your faithful people extol you. 11 They tell of the glory of your kingdom and speak of your might, 12 so that all people may know of your mighty acts and the glorious splendor of your kingdom. 13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises and faithful in all he does. 14 The Lord upholds all who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down.

I love my mom – and it seemed like many others do or did as well. I wonder what it would look like for my Facebook feed to be filled with pictures and stories about the amazing things that God has done in our lives?  Let’s tell of the Great Deeds our God has done in our lives!

Just something to think about today as you go on your way.
