Taste and See

Psalm 34:8

Taste and see that the Lord is good.

82015 RayI love bacon! Bacon makes everything – and I mean everything – taste better. I haven’t had much bacon of late – my wife doesn’t want me eating it – but I still love it! On occasion I order it when I am out. I could eat breakfast foods all day and bacon makes breakfast food even better. What is your favorite taste?

For years I wouldn’t eat salmon. It just didn’t appear to be something I would like. I’m not a big fish eater – that fishy taste doesn’t sit well with me. But a few years ago – yes – just a few years ago – I tried some salmon. The way my wife makes it (baked I think) – I really liked it. Sometimes – you need to taste something to find out if you like it or not. I’ve tried liver and DO NOT LIKE HOW IT tastes.

Here is today’s passage in the context of the whole psalm. Psalm 34:1-8 – I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. 2 I will glory in the Lord; let the afflicted hear and rejoice.Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together. 4 I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. 5 Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. This poor man called, and the Lord heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them. 8 Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.

We need to build our knowledge and understanding of Christ – and in order to do it – we need to build our relationship with Him. We need to take refuge in Him – we need to taste and see that the Lord is good.

Just something to think about today as you go on your way.
