Are We Passing Our Faith On?

2 Timothy 1:5

I have been reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.

82015 RayIf we are people of faith – can we remember who first reached out to us about Jesus?  Was it a parent?  Was it a Sunday School teacher – a Children’s Church worker – a youth group leader?  When did we get our first Bible?  Who are the people in our life that impacted us – positively – for Christ?

In today’s passage Paul – an Apostle – is writing to Timothy – a young pastor.  He is recalling the faith of Timothy’s grandmother and mother – and acknowledging that he sees this faith in Timothy now.  Can we remember who was instrumental in our spiritual journey?  Listen to this song – Thank you for giving to the Lord!

Say a prayer today for the people who were instrumental in our spiritual development – and then think – how are we passing on the faith that was passed on to us?  How are we sharing our faith with others?  Are we modeling our faith for our children?  Are we working with our children’s and youth ministries – to help develop their faith?  Are we teaching in our Discipleship program?  Are we witnessing with our WWJD bands or in some other way about the love of Christ?

Just something to think about today as you go on your way.
