Waiting On God

Psalm 46:10

“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

112015 Ray McDonaldAs we begin a New Year tomorrow – this could be a theme Scripture for us.  I like it.  We could start off the year with – be still, and know that I am God.  We are often so busy with life – so busy with what we think we need to do and be – that we fail to sit still at times and allow God to be God.  How often have we run ahead of God and found that our way was not God’s way?

In this passage God is saying – be still, and know that I am God and when we do this – waiting upon Me (God) and My timing – I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. I wonder why we can’t get this one right – at times?

Creative people – and I know a few – almost always have great ideas.  There are always new ways and old ways – creative ways – to do something in ministry.  Some ways of being the church have been tried and found to be successful – and some ways are new and as of yet are untried – at least at some locations of the church.  Some could be great ideas – some might not be.  Every established idea was once a new idea that supplanted and old idea.  The question is not about our ideas – new or old – fresh or established.  It is about allowing God to be God in all situations – in our personal lives and in the life of our church.  Seeking God and God’s will or plan for our lives is paramount to see God exalted.

As we make changes to our lives – to our church – or hold the established ground – in the New Year – I pray that we will be seeking God’s will in all that we do – personally and collectively.  IMHO we need to come to the place where we say to God – it is Your church and we are Your servants.  Do with us as You please – not as we please.  We want to bring – build – and send.  We want to be the church You would have us be and not what we want.  Help us Lord to deny ourselves and take up our cross and follow after Your will!  As we wait on God – let us strip away anything that would hinder God’s will from being clear to us!

Just something to think about today as you go on your way.
