No Greater Joy!

3 John 4

I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.

112015 Ray McDonaldAs a parent one of my prayers – since my children were young and even before they were conceived – was that they would come to know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior. That prayer came to fruition as they grew and I thank Jesus for the grace shown to my children. There is nothing more important than their salvation. They are all successful in this world. They have done amazing things in life – already. Yet the most important thing is that they know Jesus as Lord and Savior.

Are we praying for our children – our grandchildren – and for some of us – our parents and grandparents? Is that the first thing we think of when we think of our loved ones? Is our prayer that they will know Jesus? Is our prayer that they will come into a deep relationship with Jesus? Is our prayer for their salvation?

Here is today’s passage in partial context. 3 John 2–8 – 2 Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well. It gave me great joy when some believers came and testified about your faithfulness to the truth, telling how you continue to walk in it. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth. 5 Dear friend, you are faithful in what you are doing for the brothers and sisters, even though they are strangers to you. 6 They have told the church about your love. Please send them on their way in a manner that honors God. 7 It was for the sake of the Name that they went out, receiving no help from the pagans. 8 We ought therefore to show hospitality to such people so that we may work together for the truth.

There is no greater joy than to know that our children are walking in the truth – walking with Jesus. John 14:6 – Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. Follow Jesus!

Just something to think about today as you go on your way.

P.S. Please continue your prayers for General Conference in Portland this week and next.
