There Is A Time For Everything

Ecclesiastes 3:4

…a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance,

RevRayMcThere never seems to be enough time. We’re always up against some artificial or real barrier of time. How many times have we heard or uttered the phrase – there are not enough hours in a day? How many times did we wish for one more hour or even one more day to our week?

There never seems to be enough time. Some of us create our own time crunches – I realize that fact. We procrastinate until the last minute and then feel crunched by the time limit before us. Some of us actually work better – it seems – when crunched for time.

There never seems to be enough time. My father and father-in-law are with Jesus. What I wouldn’t do for just a few more hours or days with them. Yet – while they were here – I feel like I didn’t make good use of the time (anyone with me on this?).

There never seems to be enough time. Today’s passage comes from a section of Scripture that talks about time. Here is today’s passage in partial context. Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 – 1 There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: 2 a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, 3 a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, 4 a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, 5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, 6 a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, 7 a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, 8 a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.

There never seems to be enough time – yet God says there is a time for everything. Our prayer is that God will awaken us to the task at hand – in this present time. Our prayer is that we will use the time God gives us to His glory and to His designed purpose. There is a time for everything – everything under the sun. Lord – help us to use our time wisely!

Just something to think about today as you go on your way.
