God Will Not Allow Us To Face Life Alone

Isaiah 43:2

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.

God’s promise in today’s passage is not just for Israel – it is for all of God’s followers. No matter what we face God has promised to be with us. God has promised to go thru the thick and thin times – the good and bad times – of life.

The older I get the more I believe we all go thru tough times. Lean years or even decades – where life doesn’t line up the way we might think or dream. Our marriages – as perfect as they may seem to others – have tough seasons. Our children – even the ones that seem to have it all together – cause us pain and suffering. Even the person that seems to have it all together – has periods in their life when they face difficult times.

Even in the deep waters of life – God has promised to be with us. He has even promised to never leave us nor forsake us. Hebrews 13:5 – Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

Here’s today’s passage in partial context. Isaiah 43:1–7 – 1 But now, this is what the Lord says— he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. 2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. 3 For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush and Seba in your stead. 4 Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you, I will give people in exchange for you, nations in exchange for your life. 5 Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bring your children from the east and gather you from the west. 6 I will say to the north, ‘Give them up!’ and to the south, ‘Do not hold them back.’ Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the ends of the earth— 7 everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”

Dear readers – do not be afraid – even if our lives are called upon – Jesus has promised to be there to the end. He has promised to never leave us nor forsake us. He has promised to not let us drown in the deep waters of despair. God’s people are precious to Him and He will not abandon us. God will not let us face life alone if we are His children.

Your thoughts are always welcome.

Just something for us to think about today as we go on our way.
