Forgiveness of Sins

Ephesians 1:7

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace

Tuesday – in our co-ed study time (Tuesdays at 10:30am and 7:00pm) – we discussed Justifying Grace. Previously we had discussed Prevenient Grace. Some of us are amazed at the grace of God – working in us and through us – even before we responded to God. I know I am amazed every time we study God’s Grace and understand it a little better. God’s Grace is very powerful.

God has not only provided Grace for us through the death of Jesus Christ – God has also tugged at our heart – over and over again – to draw us into a relationship with Him. Not only has God provided Grace and a constant tug on our spirits – God has provided a way to become justified in God’s presence. We can become just-as-if-we-never-sinned.

Here’s today passage in partial context. Ephesians 1:3–10 – 3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. 4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will—6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace 8 that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding, 9 he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, 10 to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.

It is thru Christ and His shed blood that we have forgiveness of our sins. It is only thru Jesus that we can be made right before the Father. I try to remind us of this as often as possible because we are lost for eternity unless we submit to Jesus. Without Jesus we have NO path to the Father. Without Jesus – the only path forward we have is an eternity in hell.

Jesus Himself said – John 14:6 – Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. Let today be the day you yield your life to Jesus and His forgiveness thru grace.

Just something for us to think about today as we go on our way.
