Doing Everything To God’s Glory

 Colossians 3:17

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

I remember when our twins were little ones – it seems like just a few years ago. One of the things they loved to do was watch a show called – Colby’s Clubhouse. One of my fond memories is watching the twins – as toddlers – dancing and singing to the songs on Colby’s Clubhouse. One particular was a song sung about today’s passage.

Here is a very bad copy of the video of the song. Imagine two toddlers dancing in front of their TV singing (or trying to) and giggling as the young people on the TV screen went through their moves. They loved this show and watched it almost daily.

The children learned scripture and they learned music and faith and how to treat one another. We had the show on video tape and they played it over and over. Even today they could probably sing some of the songs and do the dance moves.

This is a basic passage all Christians should learn and walk out in their lives. Colossians 3:17 – And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

If we all walked this passage out – we would do better in life. We would even succeed more at work – because every boss – even the pagan ones out there – would reward someone who was a hard-working person with integrity.

How’s are walk with Jesus going these days? Are we spending moments each day with Him? Are we pouring out our hearts to Him and striving to live each day – even each moment – for Him?

Here’s today’s passage in partial context. Colossians 3:12–17 – 12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. 15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Let us serve Jesus by doing everything to His glory! I believe we will not only be blessed – but we will be amazed at what God will accomplish in us – thru us – and in spite of us. Think about living our faith to the fullest!

Just something for us to think about today as we go on our way.
