Let’s Encourage One Another!

Ephesians 3:16

I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being,

In several places in the Bible we are urged to pray for and encourage one another. Encouragement is essential in this day and age I believe. I think we don’t do enough encouraging and supporting one another – even in church life. How can we be more encouraging? How can we help to lift one another up? The world is beating many of us down and in the Body of Christ – we are called to encourage one another.

I recently joined a group of men from the church I attend in a small group – supporting each other as we try to get into better shape. It has been a blessing to me already – one week in. To hear and read how these men support one another and lift each other up in prayer is in itself encouraging. I hope the others feel the same way.

Today – I’m simply calling us to encourage one another. I’m trying to do it more myself and I challenge others to do it as well. Today I will share a few encouraging passages that might help us encourage others. Take the time to read them and see what God might say to your heart.

Ephesians 3:16 – I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being,

Hebrews 10:24–25 – 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

Titus 2:6–8 – Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled. 7 In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness 8 and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.

Romans 15:5–6 – 5 May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Here’s today’s passage in partial context. Ephesians 3:14–21 – 14 For this reason I kneel before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. 16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. 20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

Let us encourage one another and all the more as the Day approaches when Jesus will return for His church. Who can we encourage today? Who needs a kind word or a word of encouragement? If we seek them – I know God will show them to us.

Just something for us to think about today as we go on our way.
