Forgiveness Is a Wonderful Thing!

Ephesians 4:32

Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Life ChangeForgiveness is a wonderful thing! I love to play golf – golf just doesn’t always love me. In golf – some players take mulligans (sort of like a do over). It is not something you’re supposed to assume – it is something your playing partner might offer. Normally – when there wasn’t time to warm up – someone might say – mulligans on the first tee – which means you can take a second tee shot if your first one is a bad shot – a duffer. Of course – when you take a mulligan – you have to play it – even if your mulligan shot is worse than your original shot! Golf is complicated when you add mulligans – lol.

Forgiveness is a wonderful thing! Do overs in life can be a help too – like when you have said or done something you shouldn’t have and want to make amends. Saying you are sorry often helps – but making corrections to what you said or did goes beyond simply words. Oh how I wish I had some do overs in life.

Forgiveness is a wonderful thing! I did a reading plan recently on forgiveness. I urge our readers to get into a regular habit of reading the Word of God. Like I said Sunday in the sermon – knowing what we believe is important – but knowing our source is also important. Knowing why we believe what we believe and where we learned it is important.

Forgiveness is a wonderful thing! Here’s a good reading about forgiveness. Psalm 51:1-2 – 1 Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion lot out my transgressions. 2 Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. Forgiveness is amazing and a gift from God. In today’s reading – we read – Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Ephesians 4:32

Forgiveness is a wonderful thing! Here’s today’s reading in partial context. Ephesians 4:29-32 – 29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Forgiveness is a wonderful thing! How serious are we – dear readers – to forgive as Christ forgives? The Lord’s Prayer says something like – forgive me of my sins as I forgive those who sin against me (Matthew 6:12). And somewhere were told that Jesus even forgave those who crucified Him – Luke 23:34 – Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”

Forgiveness is a wonderful thing! We should practice it until we get it right! Forgiveness is very much needed in most if not all marriages. Forgiveness is needed in most if not all relationships. Forgiveness – just what Doctor Jesus ordered – for much of what ails us!

Just something to think about today as you go on your way.
