Never Forget! 9-11-01

John 15:18

If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.

photo on 6-11-19 at 10.52 amToday – as a nation – we remember 9-11. Where were you on that Tuesday morning 18 years ago? What are your thoughts – today – about 9-11? Is it still etched in your memory? Did you shed some tears this morning remembering that day? I know I did.

Did you know anyone who lost their life on that day? A lot of people lost their lives that day as a result of the radical Islamic terrorist attack on the USA.

I was pastoring at Mt. Zion Church and remember the horror of the day as it unfolded for sure. We had people working in the Pentagon and I remember hearing from some of them and heading out to be with their families. I remember going to the area High School and being with the son of a friend of mine who was in the Pentagon. It was a horrific day – a day I will always remember.

Worship that following Sunday was packed as people sought some answers – and came to pray for our nation. A family I now call friends came to Mt. Zion for the first time that Sunday. I hope folks will not forget. I hope they will not turn from their faith simply because it has been 18 years. We still need to pray and to be vigilant as a nation.

Where were you and what were you doing? Share what you can. At times it helps to remember and to share. It might even help others deal with their pain to hear how others are dealing with theirs!

Always remember and keep the families who were impacted and our nation – which will never be the same – in your prayers. And remember that freedom is not free and there are people in the world who hate America because of our freedom – and they will do anything to disrupt that freedom. Haters in the world do not understand freedom! There are some – even among our leaders – who do not understand the hate and evil in the world around us.

Remember – speaking to His disciples – Jesus said – If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. (John 15:18) Now – I’m not under the delusion that America is still a Christian nation – but to much of the world – especially the radical Islamic world – America represents Christians and they hate us. Today – I remember a cowardly attack upon innocent people by a hate filled group. The mastermind – still to this day – has not been brought to trial. I’m thankful to the men and women who have tried to eradicate those responsible for this evil event.

Join me today in moments of prayer – remembering those who lost their lives that terrible day. Listen to these two songs along the way. I shed some tears for sure.

Just something for us to think about today as we go on our way!
