God Will Carry Us Through

Isaiah 43:2

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.

Rays HaircutI sent some of our staff an email yesterday. I told them it looks like 2-3 weeks and we might be starting to come out of this quarantine. I urged them to turn up the heat – to work even harder to connect with people and get ready to be back at the church building. We can see the end of the tunnel starting to get closer and closer.

Have you made plans for the end of the quarantine? After visiting your children and grandchildren and filling up on hugs – what is your game plan for getting back to work? Getting back to some form of normalcy?

Are we dreaming of ways to make things better when we return to life before the quarantine? I’ve read a few articles – written by friends and by others. My hope is that we will NOT return to the same old same old. My hope and even prayer is – that we will have a new norm – that we will have learned a few things from this pandemic – this quarantine.

God is with us through this difficult time. Today’s passage speaks about God with us through the fires and trials of life. God is with us now and every day! God will see us through the storm called Covid-19 and see us either into His presence or into the new norm if post quarantine.

Here’s today’s passage in partial context. Isaiah 43:1–5 – 1 But now, this is what the Lord says— he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. 2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. 3 For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush and Seba in your stead. 4 Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you, I will give people in exchange for you, nations in exchange for your life. 5 Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bring your children from the east and gather you from the west.

Let’s spend time giving God praise and glory. Let’s spend time planning the new norm when God carries us through this time of pandemic and quarantine. God will never allow us to face this time alone. Are we spending more time with God?

This truth includes but is not limited to the quarantine – but also the denominational struggles we face and any other other issue we face. God will carry us through.

Just something for us to think about today as we go on our way.
