They came into a hostile stadium and played like Ravens. They fought the whole game and in the end – the defense along with the offense did enough to win the game and move to 5-2. They now have a bye-week to rest and get ready for the New England Patriots. The hope is the Ravens will get back a few injured players and be more at full strength.

Another mighty warrior that I know is my friend Ralph Higdon. He was a real warrior on the basketball court. He was a real warrior in life – as he fought a devastating disease to the very end. Even as his life was nearing the end – he was a real warrior.

My dad was always a mighty warrior to me – he stood for Biblical truth – as he saw it – and never in my lifetime wavered from it. Going against a future Hall of Fame player every day in practice has to improve your game.

Do you remember growing up – and being influenced by your peer group – your close friends? Parents typically spend a lot of energy trying to influence us about the people who influence us – because it really does matter. The old saying – one bad apple spoils the whole barrel – is so true at times. Most of us are not leaders – most of us are followers. We are more easily swayed by others than we sway them. Veteran’s Day 2017

John 15:13

Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

Today is the 242nd birthday of the Marines. It is also the day we are celebrating Veteran’s Day – which is actually tomorrow.

If ever there were a Scripture that spoke to the American soldier – I believe today’s passage is the one. Whether they were drafted or volunteered – men and women of our armed forces have put their lives on the line for God and Country. Whether they served at home or abroad – during peacetime or a time of war – they were our defense – our shield. They trained to be able to serve and protect. Continue reading
