We Should Live By Faith

2 Corinthians 5:7

We live by faith, not by sight.

RevRayHave you ever heard this statement?  Believe none of what you hear and half of what you see.  I believe that is a quote from Benjamin Franklin – if not it should be.  If we are to believe none of what we hear – and only half of what we see – I suggest we believe all of what our faith tells us!  All of what the Word of God says!

Here’s a question for us to ponder today.  The scripture says we live or walk by faith, not by sight but how many of us can say we do?  Too often we walk by what we can see or can prove rather than trusting in God and God’s word.  Oh we wouldn’t say we don’t trust God but many of us walk pretty close to what is safe rather than what takes faith.  It takes faith to believe in what we cannot see my friends. The Devil Prowls Around

1 Peter 5:8-9

8 Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

RevRayCalling all Prayer Warriors!  This morning I feel compelled (obligated, duty-bound) to call on all who will to pray for the church and for your pastors and leaders. Whichever church you may attend – please pray for your church family and leaders.  According to Scripture we are to be awake and aware and ready: 1 Peter 5:8-98 Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith,

The devil is out there and wants nothing more than to devour the Church! Part of standing firm is to stay in prayer together. Pray that the devil not be given even a foothold in our lives and in the church. As Scripture says; Ephesians 4:25-2825 Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body. 26 “In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 and do not give the devil a foothold. 28 He who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with his own hands, that he may have something to share with those in need.

I urge you than to pray for the following and more as the Spirit leads: Continue reading

Casting Our Anxiety on Jesus

1 Peter 5:7

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

RayBlogWhat are you anxious about in your life? What is it that causes you to have trouble sleeping at night? What do you think about and can’t seem to stop thinking about – moment by moment?

As I reflect back on my life I can think of numerous things that caused me anxious moments. I can remember being anxious when I went out for the High School football team and cuts were being posted – I made the team! I can remember being anxious when I asked my future bride to marry me and wondering if she would say yes or not – she said yes. I remember being anxious when my children were being born – the first because she was the first (she turns 30 today) – the twins because they were twins. I can remember times when I was anxious about my job – about my health – about many things. And on this side of those anxious moments I can testify that being anxious didn’t help the situations one little bit. As a matter of fact – being anxious made some of them more difficult and didn’t help my health any at all.
