Pornography – Conform Not!

Romans 12:2

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Sexuality drives the secular world it seems. One area of our lives where we are called to NOT conform to the pattern of this world is Sexuality and Pornography.

Pornography is very damaging to marriage and to all of human sexuality. Filling one’s mind with unnatural and fictitious scenarios can lead to expectations and demands that are not healthy or natural. It can lead to fantasies that are sinful and damage not only marriage but relationships with other men and women in your life. You will find yourself thinking thoughts about strangers and even close friends you would never have thought without the use of or involvement with pornography.

Pornography is addictive. It is easy to access today through the internet. It is sin and WILL damage your marriage. As a single person, it will damage your thinking about sexuality and when you marry it will cause expectations that will lead to difficulties in your marriage, guaranteed. Continue reading

Improving Our Marriages!

Mark 10:8

and the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one.

IMG_0301We have all heard of the honeymoon syndrome I am sure.  Maybe we have heard it this way – the honeymoon is over. I hear that phrase about a year after I arrive at a church.  It means it is time for reality to set in!

The honeymoon is a period of time – not merely the trip taken after the wedding or the first few weeks – months – or years after the wedding – when the marriage or relationship seems almost dream like.  Both parties are on their best behavior – they are feeling each other out – they are trying to do their best in order to make everything perfect.  It is a fairly easy time – with little conflict – because both parties are overlooking the issues or conflicts because they want the marriage or relationship to work – to be perfect – to be dream like.  Oh that the honeymoon could last forever!  I know a few pastors and churches that are in the honeymoon period right now as they were married on July 1, 2015. Tim Tebow in Super Bowl Ad

Tim Tebow and his mom are featured in an upcoming ad during the Super Bowl – http://www.tangle.com/view_video?viewkey=7a502bd2059d5ccce1c9&utm_source=newsletter012810&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=weeklytopvideos.

Focus on the Family has produced an ad with Tim Tebow and his mom talking about how she was advised by doctors to abort Tim when he was an unborn baby.  She didn’t and they are celebrating Tim’s life today. Tim is a celebrated All-American quarterback for the Florida Gators.

Focus on the Family paid over 2 million dollars for this 30 second ad (money from individual sponsors not the general support for FOF).  Some pro-choice groups are trying to get CBS to cancel the ad.  Should Focus on the Family be allowed to air their views on a controversial subject?

Your thoughts on this upcoming ad?
