Immeasurably More – God’s Love

Ephesians 3:20

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,

Life ChangeImmeasurably more! That is what the society wants us to want – more and more and more – every year! The Christmas shopping has become a contact sport on Black Fridays. Christmas sales start well before Thanksgiving to draw folks to the stores to purchase immeasurably more! Perfectly good products are jettisoned in order to buy the newest model (I’m updating the hard drives on my computers rather than buying new ones – they will speed up while being more economical than replacing them).

Scripture tells us that if we want immeasurably more – the only way to receive what really matters – is to seek after Jesus and the love that He shares with us. Read with me if you will: Ephesians 3:14-21 – 14 For this reason I kneel before the Father, 15 from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. 16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge — that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. 20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Immeasurably More

Ephesians 3:20-21

20Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

Immeasurably more!  I like that idea.  When I was a youth, one of my early jobs was as a soda jerk – please – no jokes!  I worked behind a counter making sandwiches, getting fountain items, and such, to the customers that came into Pinks drug store in Annapolis.  One of my tasks was to scope ice cream cones.  I have mentioned in the past how I would cram ice cream into the cones – no one likes a hollow cone – and then scope a full scope (no hollow middle) on top.  It was a little more ice cream than normally might have been given for a one scope cone but it brought back customers and the owner liked it!

Immeasurably more means a lot more than some extra ice cream when we are referring to our relationship with Christ.  Remember the Scripture I used Sunday in the message?  Here it is:

1 Corinthians 1:25 –25For the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength.

The passage of the day says that God is at work in us through His power.  His power!  Immeasurably more than we could ever imagine.  Our strength, that which we can imagine, is like God’s weakness.  Our wisdom, like His foolishness.

Today, I am so thankful that God is at work in me – through His power.  God is not through with me yet, and God is going to finish the good work He started in me.  Immeasurably more!

Just something to think about today as you go on your way.
