Immigration and Love
Psalm 91:2
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
Well – I will be away from the blog page for about a week. I hope you miss me – or at least the week day devotional thoughts. I will have a lot to share when I return. Catching up on some reading – some podcasts and some golf (oh – and time with family).
In today’s political climate – and on the Elder’s page I frequent on Facebook – one of the debate subjects is over the current immigration process on our southern border. Some are horrified over children being detained separate from those presenting themselves to be their parents (in other words – not all presenting themselves as their parents are really their parents). It has been documented that some are simply bringing children with them to try and get past the border and some are bringing children north for slavery and sex trafficking too. It is a horrific situation. There are also real families seeking asylum – and we need to treat them with honor and respect.
Of course – the policy in place at this time is from previous administrations and needs to be changed – but until it is changed – this administration is trying to enforce the current laws. Some state administrations have ignored the laws altogether. Sounds like the United Methodist Church where some disagree with the laws of the church yet ignore the law.
Some are appalled at children being taken from their parents by this administration – yet didn’t say a word when it was being done by the previous administrations. I’m really trying to not be political. Yet – it seems like you can’t turn on the TV or read social media without someone getting political these days. Continue reading
From Where Does Our Help Come?
Psalm 121:1-2
1 I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? 2 My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
From where does our help come? During the government shutdown – from where does our help come? Were we good savers? Do we have a contingency plan in place – having experienced shutdowns in the past. Have our churches come to our aid? Have other family members? Have other agencies of the government? And – of course – the question remains – when with the POTUS and Congress compromise – solve border security – immigration – and open the government again?
From where does our help come? Have we faced tough issues in life? From where did we seek help when we had medical issues? We have some of the best hospitals in the nation right in our backyard. Some of the best doctors and medical schools. But – can we afford health care? Can we afford the best doctors and medical care? From where does our help come? Will we ever get a grasp on health care in this nation? Continue reading
God Is Our Refuge – In Him We Trust
Psalm 91:2
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
Well – I’m back. I hope you missed me – or at least the week day devotional thoughts. Leave a comment on today’s devotional thought if you missed our devotional thoughts last week. My staycation was OK – although it is never as good as a vacation where you get away. I did accomplish 21 of 29 honey dos on my list. It was a successful week in that regard. I also got to play two rounds of golf – although I am still recovering from rotator cuff surgery and not yet playing up to par (no pun intended).
In today’s political climate – and on the Elder’s page I frequent on Facebook – the debate is over the current immigration process on our southern border. Some are horrified over children being detained separate from those presenting themselves to be there parents – who are trying to enter our country illegally. I say presenting themselves as parents of the children because it has been documented that some are simply bringing children with them to try and get past the border and some are bringing children north for slavery and sex trafficking.

The Election Is Over – Jesus Is King!
James 1:2
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds,
Well – when you read this devotional thought – the election will be over – or at least it should be (unless there are some more hanging chads or someone calls for a recount). I hope you voted dear readers. Some of us will be happy. Some of us will be sad. Some of us will be confused. Some of us will shake our heads. Some of us will be dancing in the streets. Some of us will feel downtrodden. Some of us will feel uplifted.
As I write this devotional thought I’m watching the early news as the polls are getting ready to close – starting with the East Coast and moving westward. How would you like to live in Hawaii – OK – most would say I’d love to live in Hawaii – except for Election Day – when the race is usually decided before you even get to vote – LOL (the West Coast also feels this way at times).
