Day 12 of Lent 2020

Matthew 23:12

For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

Ray 2020Today is day 12 of the 40 Days of Lent reading plan (not counting Sundays). I hope you are enjoying the reading plan as it walks us through some of the events in Jesus’ life as He walked toward the cross. I know I am enjoying the readings. Lent is the 40 days leading up to the cross (not counting Sundays). May we walk closer to Jesus as we read about His life and ministry.

Today’s reading reminds us to be humble – for sure. If we are followers of Christ – we need to walk as He did – with humility. For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

How are we walking in humility this Lenten season? How are we reflecting Christ to those we meet along life’s journey?

Let’s dig deeper today – as we read about humility. Jesus teaches and reflects humility. We should strive to walk with Christ and as Christ walked. We should walk the walk as well as we talk the talk – unlike the teachers of the law in Jesus’ day. Continue reading

Humbled In Life

Matthew 23:12

For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

Life ChangeI imagine most of us have been humbled in life. Whether it was in sports – or relationships – or work – or some other way – most of us have been humbled. Being humbled is being Christ like – by the way!

Today’s passage reminds us to be humble for sure. If we are followers of Christ – we need to walk as He did – with humility. For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted. How are we walking in humility this Lenten season? How are we reflecting Christ to those we meet along life’s journey? How are we walking in the light of Christ so that folks see Jesus rather than us? Continue reading

Humble Ourselves

Matthew 23:12

For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

112015 Ray McDonaldHow’s your Prayer/Fast going?  I hope you are enjoying a Lenten reading plan on http://www.youversion.com or somewhere.  As the Word of God walks us through some of the events in Jesus’ life – as He walked to the cross.

Today’s reading reminds us to be humble for sure.  If we are followers of Christ – we need to walk as He did – with humility.  For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.  How are we walking in humility this Lenten season?

Being humble is not an easy thing for most of us. As a matter of fact – it is downright difficult – yet we are called by God to be humble in order to follow Christ.  Most of today’s devotional is a Scripture reading – please take the time to read it all. Continue reading
