Happy New Years 2019

Philippians 3:12

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.

January 1st is here – Happy New Year. What will you do with the new year? Do you have a plan for the days ahead? Remember what I wrote yesterday – If we aim at nothing – we’re bound to hit it. I hope that we didn’t party too much last night (I know I was in bed early). I hope that we have a plan for the new year. What about some deepening of our faith? What about healing some relationships? What about losing some weight and getting into better shape?

January 1st is here – Happy New Year. Did you make any resolutions? Have you held to them for this day? Or have you broken some of your resolutions already? I listed some of mine yesterday. They include – I plan on losing more weight. I plan on reading more in the Word of God. I plan to increase my prayer life. I plan on spending more time with my family. I plan to take all of my vacation and days off. These are just a few of my 2019 goals. What are yours?

December 31st is Here – New Year’s Eve

Philippians 3:12

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.

profileDecember 31st is here – New Year’s Eve.  What will you do tonight?  Party hardy?  I hope that any hardy partying you do is held under control so that you arrive safe at home at some time on New Year’s Day.  Have fun but be responsible and safe.  If you know me personally and have my cell number – call me if you need a ride home and I will come help you get home!

December 31st is here – New Year’s Eve.  If you’re looking for a safe place to have fun and relax on New Year’s Eve – and you live close to Laurel and First UMC – you might come to our family night from 7 pm until midnight.  We will have a Watch Night Service from 11 pm until midnight.  You are all welcome!  Bring some snacks to share and bring your favorite board game and have fun with us.  We will be watching some family safe movies as well. Pressing On Toward Perfection

Philippians 3:12

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.

profileOK – I confess – my golf game is in trouble this summer.  Between my meniscus tear – my increasing age – my lack of time to work on my game – my ONLY once-a-week game – my scores have suffered.  They are not where I want them to be for sure.  Last summer I was playing much better.  This summer my chipping and approach shots have totaling left me.  Up and down is not in my vocabulary this summer.  It has been less fun playing – but someone has to do it to keep the economy going.  And my friend Dennis is having a good summer beating me most times out and Greg is looking for an opportunity to beat me too.

So what do I do?  Do I blame the clubs and get a new set ($$)?  Do I take lessons ($$)?  I’ve tried changing golf ball brands!  Do I simply accept scores that are 4-6 strokes higher than normal?  Do I even accept normal?  Or do I strive to get better?  I’ve chosen to try and get better.  I will start practicing when time allows (and I may just start making the time to do it).  I have found a place where I can practice chipping and approach shots are practiced in the meadow behind my house.  I will not accept where my scores are today – I will return to where I use to be and try to get even better.  I am determined!  I am focused!  I will not give up!  I will break that barrier in front of me and score lower than I have all summer before the summer is out!  I can do this!
