Again I Ask – How’s Our Prayer Life?

Mark 9:28-29

28 After Jesus had gone indoors, his disciples asked him privately, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?” 29 He replied, “This kind can come out only by prayer.”

When asked the difference between Christians in America and Christians in his land – a pastor/missionary from Africa said – In parts of Africa people actually pray for their daily bread. In most of the Christian homes in America – pantries are full as well as freezers and refrigerators.

So if we aren’t praying for our daily bread – what is it we pray for each day? In today’s world we have much we could be praying about for sure. Christians – Muslims – Jews – from around the world are being attached by ISSIS. We could spend hours upon hours praying for them. The 2016 Presidential elections is another thing we could pray about for sure. We could pray for race relations and the racial tension in our country. Our church has a prayer list in the bulletin each week filled with persons in need of prayer. There should never be a lack of something for us to use for prayer material. Continue reading

2016 Presidential Election

then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.

Photo on 7-6-16 at 3.42 PMLast night at the DNC Hillary Clinton was chosen as the Democratic nominee for President. According to posts by our new Bishop – and others – a historic event for sure. Donald Trump was chosen as the Republican nominee a couple of weeks ago. Darrell Castle is running from the Constitution Party of the U.S. Jill Stein is running from the Green Party. Gary Johnson is running from the Libertarian Party. There are others on some state ballots.

My hope is that each person running for President will refrain from negative advertising. I won’t hold my breath. Both of the major party candidates have already done a lot of mud slinging.

What I would like to hear are the plans of each candidate – if elected – to work on issues like the economy – national security – immigration – the Supreme Court – race relations – entitlement programs – the environment – and more. I’d much rather hear their agenda moving forward than to listen to them cutting down their counterparts. Continue reading

2016 Presidential Election – My Thoughts

Philippians 2:2

112015 Ray McDonaldThis will be a short devotional today – but it will have much to ponder. First – how’s your Prayer/Fast going? I pray it is going well and that God is speaking to you.

Second – and lastly – the Presidential Elections of 2016 are not going well. I’m not talking about my candidate doing well or not. I’m talking about the way ALL of the candidates are acting – both parties. Childish would not be strong enough. Making fun of one another – the way they talk – their physical appearance – their gender – and more is not what we the voters want to see – IMHO. I know I would much rather hear a debate on the issues of the day – like the economy – national security – immigration – the Supreme Court – race relations – entitlement programs – the environment – and more.  I’d much rather hear their agenda moving forward than to listen to them cutting down their counterparts.
