What Is Your Favorite Bible Translation?

2 Timothy 3:16

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,

112015 Ray McDonaldAs Christmas arrives (in just 2 weeks from today) – I’m often asked what would be a great gift to give or receive.  I’d like to suggest that an appropriate gift for young and old alike would be a new Bible.  It might be a person’s first Bible or it might be a study Bible for deeper thought and study. What is your favorite?  What would you suggest?  What translation has really helped you grow in your knowledge and understanding of Christ?

Please take the following survey – https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ZT59YMG.  I will share the results in the comments section in a week or so (in time to buy that special Christmas gift). Continue reading

What Are The Crucial Social Issues Today

Isaiah 1:17 – (ESV)

learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause.

IMG_0301Here is a survey – please give it a try and give me your thoughts (https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/VZ2JN7N).   What are the crucial social issues for you today?  What justice issues are there for you today?  In the survey I have listed 10 social issues for today – you can pick your top three – and there is a place for you to add one as well.

As the church – the body of Christ – we are called to love folks and obey God’s commands.  Doing both is not always easy for sure.  Doing one is not always easy.

Take the survey and let’s see what you think.  The survey is anonymous.  I will add the choices as they begin to come in on this post and maybe that will cause some discussion.

Just something to think about today as you go on your way.

Family and Friends – We All Need Them

1 Corinthians 12:26

If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.

IMG_0301I’ve been spending some time lately reading several things like – the Bible – some books (like Nick Vujicic’s Unstoppable) – some sports news as we enter the new baseball season (Go O’s and Nat’s) – and the Facebook entries of some of my friends. One thing I’ve noticed in many of these venues is the importance of family – connections – and teamwork. One of my Facebook friends puts pictures and posts up – almost hourly it seems – thanking God for their children – their spouse and where they work. I believe that our family and close friends impact our lives – for the better or for the worst.

Family and other connections are so very important to our health and our well-being. One only needs to read the stories of some who have gone astray to realize that many of them had a giant fail in their family connections. Nick Vujicic – born without arms or legs – praises his parents for showing him unconditional love and attention. He credits this support for much of his ability to struggle through the challenges of life he faced and become a motivational speaker and evangelist. Continue reading
