Submit to God

Proverbs 3:6

…in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

112015 Ray McDonaldThis weekend I’m serving on a team on an Emmaus weekend. An Emmaus weekend or walk to Emmaus is defined like this on the Southern Maryland Emmaus websiteThe Walk to Emmaus is a spiritual renewal program intended to strengthen the local church through the development of Christian disciples and leaders. The program’s approach seriously considers the model of Christ’s servanthood and encourages Christ’s disciples to act in ways appropriate to being “a servant of all.”

When I walked – I found persons who submitted to God in awesome ways. I was already a pastor when I walked – so I knew what was being shared and taught (although it was a good refresher for sure). What stood out to me was the number of people who were serving through the weekend – submitting to God for the whole weekend. It was amazing and I encourage others to consider walking. Our church has a history of supporting and encouraging people to walk. Continue reading

The Emmaus Walk

Luke 24:13

Now that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem.

profileTonight and through the weekend I will be teaming with others on an Emmaus Walk.  If you haven’t experienced an Emmaus Walk – all I can tell you is it is a spiritual journey everyone should experience.  It has as its root the walk two disciples made on the first Easter morning – where Christ was revealed to them.

Christ wants to reveal Himself to us.  Christ wants to walk with us.  Christ is counting on us to witness to others so that He will be revealed to others.  Pray for those who are walking this weekend that Christ would be revealed to them! Continue reading

Walk to Emmaus

I just returned from the Southern Maryland Walk to Emmaus #35.  It was an amazing time.  I would like to offer others who have attended the walk an opportunity to express some testimonies about this experience (don’t let any of the special experiences out of the bag).  Use this space to encourage others to walk.

More information can be found on their website – http://www.upperroom.org/emmaus/.  The Maryland Camp’s website is http://www.carr.org/emmaus/ while the Southern Maryland Camp’s website is http://www.somdemmaus.org/.  Either camp is amazing and we have folks from both camps at Mt. Oak.

I will say that the experience of meeting new friends and developing a close relationship by spending three days with them was powerful for me.  I didn’t learn any new theological concepts – but I had one’s I knew supported.   I laughed, I cried, I was moved, I met with Jesus one on one and in group settings.  I will always remember my experience and will encourage others to walk as well.  It is an amazing time to strengthen your spiritual walk – your walk with Jesus.

OK – how about some testimonies?
