Answered Prayers

Psalm 17:1 says – Hear, O Lord, my righteous plea; listen to my cry. Give ear to my prayer — it does not rise from deceitful lips.

Share some answered prayers that you have lifted before God.

My current prayer is very selfish – I am heading to a dental appointment and I pray for a good result from my dental need. I’ll report later.

Do you only pray for the big things of life? Or do you take most everything to God?

How has God spoken to you through your prayers?

What does the following passage mean to you?

Matthew 21:21-22 – 21 Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done. 22 If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”

I pray that prayer is a central part of our spiritual journey.

  1. When my daughter was in high school,we experienced rebellion that we had never seen before. I was always upset. Then I read "The Power of a Praying Parent". Every night I read from it. Everyday I asked God to protect her physically & spiritually, that she would make good decisions and that he would equip her in her school work. During a worship service, I heard God say to me "I'll stay with her". It startled me & I began to cry but I felt a Huge feeling of relief. Now she is in college & I'm not completely certain where she is spiritually but she has grown into a wonderful person. I continue to pray.

  2. Last Christmas was a very crazy time in our house. My mom had kidney stones and while it doesn’t seem like a big deal, trust me. It is. She was very sick and in a lot of pain. Given the treatment the doctors were 90% certain she would need, she would be sick up until new year’s and I remember she was so upset that my sister and I wouldn’t have a good Christmas because nothing was decorated or wrapped and I remember praying that she would just relax and know that her being healthy was what made it a happy Christmas, not a tree and presents. When she went to have surgery, the doctor found that they could simply remove the stone and she was fine in about three days. When she got home from the hospital my sister and I had decorated the tree and she was very happy to be home and healthy and she told us that we made her Christmas very special just by taking care of her and the things she couldn’t. I prayed right then thanks to God for her change in attitude and the sudden surprise of her being fine so suddenly when doctors were ninety percent sure that she wouldn’t be in perfect health for up to two weeks. God was definately with us last Christmas in a whole new way.

  3. When God opened my eyes to how deeply my daughter was into drugs I prayed like I have never prayed before. I had many others at my church at the time praying for her to be delivered from her addiction and by the grace of God that happened. I solemnly believe that we need to put all our problems at God’s feet and trust that He will handle them for us without a doubt. As a Christian I struggle to do this better. To be able to surrender these Earthly problems unto Him. Jesus overcame death, what would lead me to believe I had any problem in the world to big for him?
