21-Day Prayer/Fast – Day 19

Psalm 84:10

Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.

01032015 RayBetter is One Day is one of my favorite contemporary worship songs (I know – it has been out for some time now).  In the YouTube link I provided the song is presented by Matt Redman and company.  It is a powerful reminder as we enter the last days of our 21-Day Prayer/Fast that being in the presence of God is better than anything else in all of creation.  NOTHING can compare with being in the presence of God!

man-in-prayerHere is Psalm 84 in its entirety which is our reading today from the YouVersion 21-Day Fast plan.  Psalm 84:1-12 – 1 How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord Almighty! 2 My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.  3 Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young — a place near your altar, O Lord Almighty, my King and my God. 4 Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you. 5 Blessed are those whose strength is in you, who have set their hearts on pilgrimage. 6 As they pass through the Valley of Baca, they make it a place of springs; the autumn rains also cover it with pools.  7 They go from strength to strength, till each appears before God in Zion. 8 Hear my prayer, O Lord God Almighty; listen to me, O God of Jacob. 9 Look upon our shield, O God; look with favor on your anointed one. 10 Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked. 11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. 12 O Lord Almighty, blessed is the man who trusts in you.

Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked. My prayer for us today is that we have come to realize the truth of this passage – that we have grown in our understanding of it for sure.  My prayer is that our extra time spent before the Lord through prayers and devotions has improved our relationship with Jesus – deepening our love for Him and our allegiance to Him.  My prayer is that our time spent in His presence would indeed translate into a walk that approaches the walk Jesus would have for each of us.  As we enter into these last days of the 21-Day Prayer/Fast – seek His face more deeply and experience the joy that comes from walking with Jesus!

Just something to think about today as you go on your way.
