Hope In The Lord!

Lamentations 3:25

The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him…

20140530-104833-38913743.jpgWhat do you hope in – where do you place your hope? Do you hope RGIII will learn to be an NFL quarterback and lead the Redskins to a winning season – maybe even the playoffs – in some season this decade? Don’t hold your breath – it doesn’t seem likely – but maybe – we can always hope.

What do you hope in – where do you place your hope? Do you hope that Christmas would hurry up – or be especially nice this year? Do you hope for some time off from work to spend with your family and friends during the holidays? I hope that your Christmas is special this year – but for some of us – we will be missing loved ones or not have enough to purchase gifts for our children.

What do you hope in – where do you place your hope? Do you place your hope in yourself? A dear friend – who placed his hope in Jesus – passed last week – suddenly. We cannot count on ourselves dear readers – we never know when our last breath is upon us.

So where can we safely place our hope – our trust? Today’s passage says – The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him… Let’s look at today’s passage in partial context. Lamentations 3:12-27 – 12 He drew his bow and made me the target for his arrows. 13 He pierced my heart with arrows from his quiver. 14 I became the laughingstock of all my people; they mock me in song all day long. 15 He has filled me with bitter herbs and given me gall to drink. 16 He has broken my teeth with gravel; he has trampled me in the dust. 17 I have been deprived of peace; I have forgotten what prosperity is. 18 So I say, “My splendor is gone and all that I had hoped from the Lord.” 19 I remember my affliction and my wandering, the bitterness and the gall. 20 I well remember them, and my soul is downcast within me. 21 Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: 22 Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. 23 They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. 24 I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.” 25 The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; 26 it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord. 27 It is good for a man to bear the yoke while he is young.

Please your hope – dear readers – your trust – in God – the Almighty and Everlasting One! God will never let us down – God will always be there for us and never disappoint us.  God will bless those who place their hope in Him!

Just something to think about today as you go on your way.
